ALTABAX is used to treat impetigo.* It should be applied as directed twice a day for 5 days. Before you apply ALTABAX ointment, clean the infected area as directed by your doctor.

Patient Tips on Skin Care and Hygiene

Clean the affected area as directed by your doctor
Apply a thin layer of ALTABAX to the affected area twice a day for 5 days
If directed by your doctor, the treated area should be covered by a bandage
Be sure to use ALTABAX for the full 5 days, even though the skin infection seems to be getting better
Call your doctor if there is no improvement in symptoms within 3 to 4 days after starting use of ALTABAX

Important Safety Information

*ALTABAX is indicated for use in adults and pediatric patients aged 9 months and older for the topical treatment of impetigo (up to 100 cm² in total area in adults or 2% total body surface area in pediatric patients aged 9 months or older) due to Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible isolates only) or Streptococcus pyogenes.

The most common drug-related adverse reaction was application site irritation (1.4% of patients).
